Very rare royal blue glaze Ru Yi Coin Design ceramic tile.
12.5” Square, 1.25” thick.
Original antique, not a reproduction.
Some crazing in the glaze dating this magnificent piece.
It appears that one corner was cracked and repaired. I’m not sure if this was done at the time of manufacturing, or if the repair was done later. It is barely noticeable and does not detract from the beauty of this piece.
From estate of Helen Craddick, renown interior designer, who worked with John Wheatman and Associates in San Francisco for many years. Her work is mentioned in Meditations on Design and A Good House is Never Done, By John Wheatman.
